He was a merchant of Boston 1832-1850. He removed to North Andover, where he was a farmer. Representative to State Legislature. Removed to Andover where he was Postmaster 1861-1869; Trustee and Treasurer Memorial Hall Free Public Library; Treasurer Marland Manufacturing Co. Removed to vicinity of N. Y. C.; resided Brooklyn. 723. i. Edward Greenleaf, born 26 May 1843.
ii. Walter Landor, born 23 August 1846; enlisted as private on his sixteenth birthday in 44th Regt. of Mass. Volunteers in Capt. Hunt's Co. He was in Battle of Kingston, at Whitehall and at Goldsborough. After nine months of serĀvice he came home and came down with malaria. No sooner had his health and strength returned than he re-enlisted, this time in the 1st Mass. Volunteer Cavalry. On 16 August 1863 he was taken prisoner. He died a prisoner of war 25 December 1863. [These dates do not check out. He is said to have enlisted at age sixteen which would have been 23 August 1862. He is said to have died 25 December 1861. The latter date has been changed in order to make the dates conform.]
