MARGHERITA WARD RAYMOND
born in Detroit, Michigan on July 13, 1914, died peacefully August 30, 2001 at the age of 87 in her home in Juno Beach, Florida.
Margherita graduated from Kingswood School, Cranbrook in Michigan and attended Wesley College and the University of Michigan.
Margherita married Tom Raymond in 1938, and they raised their four children in Evanston, Illinois. In addition to being a devoted mother and wife, she gave to her community and church; she served as a school board member, a trustee of the Infant Welfare Society, and was a longtime altar-guild worker at St. Mark s Episcopal Church In addition to their Evanston residence, Tom and Margherita spent summers in Les Cheneaux Islands. Hessel, Michigan with extended family and friends. In 1980, they retired to Tryon, North Carolina where they resided until Margherita moved to Florida in 1997.
Margherita Is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, and a brother. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all: daughter Marguerite Long of Westerly, Rhode Island; sons, Tim Raymond and wife Marj, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Rob Raymond and wile Diane, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and George Raymond and wife Kate of Federal Way. Washington. All seven grandchildren were a significant and active part of her life. They are: Ted Long of Providence, Rhode Island, Margherita Long of Buffalo, New York. Kate Long of Seattle. Washington, Christie Raymond of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Jennifer Raymond of Portland, Oregon, Mark Raymond of Chicago. Illinois, and Ward Raymond of West Palm Beach, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at QUATTLEBAUM-HOLLEMAN-BURSE FUNERAL HOME. 1201 South Olive Avenue. West Palm Beach, Florida 33401. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home for the celebration of her life beginning at 1:00 PM.
