She gives his birthdate as October 15, 1814. "In 1837 Cyrenus and Mary resided between Alexander, Moore, and Wagoner on a part of lots 27 and 28, on consession two in Norwich Township, Oxford Co., Ont. in a one story log cabin. The exact location of their portion of these lots is not known because they may have been renting at the time of the property census. The size of their property and the amount of their livestock is unknown since the agricultural census, for their farm, has been lost."
"After November of 1855, after the birth of Olena Willina, Cyrene brought his family to Lapeer Co., MI. Cyrene's older brothers, Ralph and Cary, were already in the area and had pioneered the way for the rest of the family. The oldest son, Neil had also migrated to the area, ahead of Cyrene and the family. He had come after 1851 and before 1855.
Cyrene was first listed in the Michigan Census of 1860, in Elba Township. Between 1840 and 1850 Cyrus Raymod resided in Washtenaw Co, but is not of this Raymond line and should not be confused with Cyrenus.
By 1870, Cyrene and Mary owned $2,000 worth of real estate in Marathon Twp and had personal holdings valued at $417. They framed "the east half of teh south-east quarter of section fifteen in house 9, north of range nine east, in the Township of Marathon, in the County of Lapeer and the State of Michigan.
By 1874, several of Cyrene's children had married and moved to farms in the area, so that much of Marathon Twp was dotted with Raymond farms.
On August 22, 1877, Cyrene died of Typhoid Fever, at the age of 62 years. He died in Marathon Twp., and was buried in Hollenbeck Cemetery, not far from their farm. His plot is next to his father, Roswell, and his daughter, Olena Willina. In fact, they share a stone. Several other close relatives are also buried in the cemetery.
Cyrene's estate was settled between August and October of 1879, when 40 acres were sold off the east side of teh 80 acres, on the corner of Barnes Lake Road and Klam Road to settle debts of $550, owed to Chester Carey. The property was appraised at $600 and sold to William H. Cliff. Judge John B. Hough of Lapeer City, oversaw the proceedings and Cyrene II served as the administrator of the estate. The sale of teh real estate was advertised in the local newspaper, the Lapeer Clarion.
It seems that Mary, most probably, lived on the remaining 40 acres for in 1880, she lived alone, in Marathon with her two youngest children, Mary Jane and Robert Angus. By 1894, the property may have been purchased by Cyrene II who also may have repurchased the 40 acres sold to Mr. Cliff. Regardless, the entire 80 acres was in Cyrene II's name at that time. His mother was 79 years old and would have needed help to farm the property. In this era, this would have been the responsibility of her eldest son. It is not known when the 80 acres in section fourteen was sold, but is was no longer in the family by 1894."
