      WHITEWATER - Bettie L. Arnold, age 74, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at Ft. Atkinson Memorial Health Services Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003. She was born in Rock Island, IL, on Dec. 4, 1928, the daughter of Lloyd "Chub" and Julie Nelson. She graduated from College High School, Whitewater, in 1946. She married Jean "Hink" Arnold on April 2, 1948, at 1st English Lutheran Church, Whitewater. Bettie is survived by her husband, Jean of Whitewater; 2 daughters, Julie Moyse of Markesan and Laurie (John) Welch of Ft. Atkinson; a son, John Arnold of Whitewater; 6 grandchildren: Chandra, Corey, Heather, Melissa, Matthew and Michael; a brother, Lloyd "Butch" Nelson Jr. of Milton; and a very good friend, Evelyn "Tootie" Gransee of Gleason, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; a special aunt, Fran May; her sister, Darlene Nelson; and a son, James. There will be no visitation, but a private family service will be held after her cremation. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family is requesting memorials to a charity of your choice. Bettie gave her last gift of organ donation to help others. OLSEN FUNERAL HOME, Whitewater, is assisting with arrangements.
